You’ve probably heard of or watched a TED Talk. We’re big fans of these amazing presentations.

Our version is the KEN Talk.

Our founder Ken Haseley has developed several unique talks that are perfect for meetings and events held by companies, professional organizations, trade associations and not-for-profits. These engaging talks can be delivered in person or by videoconference.

Presentations That Rock: What Business Leaders Can Learn from Rock Concerts.

Rock concerts can dazzle and move an audience – even move it to action, as we’ve seen with benefit concerts such as Live Aid. Business presentations also have the potential to dazzle and move. Sadly, few of them do. Sometimes it’s the fault of the presenter with sub-par delivery skills. Sometimes it’s that the presentation is poorly crafted. We took a close look at the structure of successful rock concerts and what that structure can teach virtually every business leader about one of the constants in business – presenting. (After all, we’re based in Cleveland, home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!) This Talk examines nine elements of a rock concert, their parallels in business presentations and how business professionals can use some of the strategies and tactics of rock musicians to deliver a dazzling presentation.

Developing and Selling Your Company’s Investible Idea.

Most companies have a story – a core idea – that sets them apart from their competitors and makes them an attractive investment option. Let’s call it their “investible idea.” Analyst presentations and quarterly earnings conference calls are important tools in communicating this idea. But not all companies have identified their investible idea or communicate it effectively.

The primary goal of your investor relations efforts is to make a clear, compelling case for your company. Think of it this way: If someone asks you why you shop at Home Depot, you tell them why, clearly and in a couple of sentences. People in sales will tell you that when they interact with a customer, they must engage that customer – quickly. Otherwise, no sale! The same is true with investors and analysts. You must compellingly and repeatedly explain what it is about your company that’s different, notable, even unique. Merely sharing data or facts without providing meaning or context won’t cut it.

This KEN Talk will challenge you to examine your financial communications efforts and make sure they are generating solid returns. It will help you develop or refine your investible idea and show you how to communicate it successfully.

Leveraging the Science of Persuasion.

The goal of many presentations and business interactions is persuasion – selling a product, a service, an idea. Long thought to be just an “art,” persuasion is now known to have a scientific side. This understanding is the result of research conducted by behavioral scientists who have found that persuasion often works in predictable ways. In other words, it’s based on principles that can be taught, learned and applied. This thought-provoking presentation examines the principles and techniques that are most commonly and successfully used in the persuasion process. If you’re in sales, marketing, purchasing, advertising, PR, government relations, investor relations or if you manage people, persuasion is a critical skill. This Talk will sharpen that skill.
